Dear Families,
We may have a few more snowflakes ahead of us, but spring is just around the corner and we’re ready to celebrate the warm weather and cheer on our students with their spring academics. We look forward to seeing all parents and guardians at Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, March 3rd. Please allow your child to attend this event with you. Remember, we encourage students to participate in these conferences by having them discuss their academic goals for the remainder of the school year. Students will be dismissed at 11:20 am on this day. Please make arrangements to pick up your child early.
Continue to talk to your child about College Awareness Day which we held in January and the Career Day assembly held on February 29th. Some ways to talk to your elementary school child about college and career choices are by:
- Talking about your own school experience
- Bringing them to a college library to read and/or study
- Exploring a college campus on a nice day
- Discussing your own career choices
Remember, many experts say that daily reading to children at an early age is a great way for parents and caregivers to help children keep pace in school and later in life. A proven way to achieve this is by making sure a child is read to every day for 20 minutes.
Lastly, the NYC Parent Surveys will be distributed at Parent-Teacher Conferences this year. This survey gives the school feedback on what we are doing well and what we still need to make even better. We need to hear from you. Each class that receives 100% survey completion will receive an ICE CREAM PARTY! We encourage all parents to complete these surveys and return them to your child’s teacher as soon as you can.
