As we approach the Winter Break, I would like to first take this opportunity to wish each of you and your families a most happy, healthy holiday season! I hope that you will have a chance to relax and enjoy some special times with your children. As always, I am so proud of how hard they have been working each and every day! One of our school-wide goals this year is to help our students become stronger readers. Perhaps your children might read and talk about their stories with family members over the break. Read to your little ones every night. Make reading with your children a fun family event. They can talk about their favorite part, most surprising part or a funny part in the book.
Remember to check out our website on a regular basis for updates and information. The website can be accessed by logging onto ps131q.wordpress.com. Student council members did a great job representing P.S. 131 at the UN Flag Raising Ceremony at Queens Borough Hall. The pictures are on the school website.
Our lost and found is located in the back of the auditorium. We have many unclaimed coats, hats, sweaters, lunch boxes and water bottles. Please take time to make arrangements to pick them up if your child was missing any of these items when they returned from school. Another important reminder is regarding our door alarms. For the safety of our children all doors except the main entrance have alarms. Please only use the main entrance by the security desk when leaving the school building.
Your children are the heart and soul of this building and they never cease to amaze me. Thank you for sharing them, they are all treasures! Enjoy your time off and I look forward to seeing everyone in 2016!
